Our March Friends and Family DBT Workshop is coming up in a few weeks. In this workshop, participants will learn how to be more supportive of the changes their loved ones are making and be less punishing of their mistakes. They will learn how behaviors get maintained over time and how to assist their loved ones in eliminating problematic behaviors once and for all. Participants will also discover new ways to increase and support more skillful behavior while acknowledging the limitations of punishment as a means of changing behavior.
Participants in this workshop will learn the following:
- The difference between reinforcement and punishment.
- How behaviors eventually get extinguished due to a lack of reinforcement.
- How to use reinforcing consequences to increase a behavior.
- The limitations of punishment as a means of increasing skillful behavior
