Webinar Description

This webinar will help clinicians to reframe their approach to suicide risk assessment so that the assessment itself can be a therapeutic intervention. Strategies for creating conditions that foster honest disclosure and genuine exploration of risk will be shared. Best-practices for conceptualizing risk to support outpatient intervention and treatment will be reviewed. Clinicians will leave with practical strategies, techniques, and new perspectives for working with clients presenting with suicide risk.

About the Presenter

Dr. Jennifer Muehlenkamp is a licensed clinical psychologist and professor of psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Dr. Muehlenkamp has been working in the area of suicide prevention for over 20 years, having published over 100 research papers and book chapters. She is trained in evidence-based treatments for suicide including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and the collaborative assessment and management of suicidality (CAMS). Dr. Muehlenkamp’s work has been awarded numerous grants from the National Institute of Health and she has been recognized with professional awards from the American Association of Suicidology and the International Society for the Study of Self-Injury.
