Webinar Description

This webinar will present a developmentally informed, evidence-based framework for engaging adolescents in a suicide risk assessment. Emphasis will be placed on shifting away from “predicting suicide” to an approach that simultaneously evaluates risk, strengthen engagement, and builds a therapeutic relationship. Best-practice strategies for eliciting and conceptualizing risk to support outpatient intervention and care will be shared.

About the Presenter

Dr. Jennifer Muehlenkamp is a licensed clinical psychologist and professor of psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Dr. Muehlenkamp has been working in the area of suicide prevention for over 20 years, having published over 100 research papers and book chapters. She is trained in evidence-based treatments for suicide including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and the collaborative assessment and management of suicidality (CAMS). Dr. Muehlenkamp’s work has been awarded numerous grants from the National Institute of Health and she has been recognized with professional awards from the American Association of Suicidology and the International Society for the Study of Self-Injury.
