The Center for Behavioral Medicine is excited to offer a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills group exclusively for LGBTQ+ adults. The DBT group for LGBTQ+ adults will teach all of the DBT skills from the Core Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and Emotion Regulation modules. Additionally, information about minority stress and how to effectively use DBT skills to manage the effects of it will be woven throughout the group.

The group will meet via ZOOM on Thursday evenings from 5-7:30pm. The group will be open to any CBM clients who are in the comprehensive DBT program.

Additionally, clients not currently in CBM’s DBT program may be appropriate for the group. For non-CBM clients to participate, we ask that they have an outpatient provider (e.g., psychotherapist, psychiatrist) with whom they are meeting regularly. This is to ensure that clients are connected with a provider who is able to handle clinical emergencies, as the group facilitator is not able to fulfill this role.

To make a referral or to get more information about the group, please contact Dr. Kim Skerven (kimberly.skerven@cbm-dbt.com). Dr. Skerven is happy to have a conversation about the goodness of fit for any referral, so please do get in touch with any questions!
